Last week marked a crucial meeting held at the Whi Last week marked a crucial meeting held at the White House among White House officials and important pioneers in advocating for wage equity sphere. Among these pioneers, YWCA USA’s CEO Margaret Mitchell was in attendance. The meeting discussed strategies to further close wage gaps, “as well as opportunities for partnership to continue advancing the economic security of Black women and their families,” a statement released by the White House stated. Wage equity is one of many policy issues YW Boston aims to ameliorate through advocacy and lobbying efforts. 

In light of this, YW Boston is pleased and proud to see the Workplace Equity Act voted out of committee favorably last week. We celebrate the work of the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development for moving this crucial bill forward.  We look forward to continuing to lead this work as a steering committee member of the Wage Equity Now Coalition where we will work alongside our fervent leaders in the House and Senate to secure the passage of this important bill.
